Native American Heritage Association

Native American families suffer from food insecurity and hunger daily. Two of the poorest counties in America are on the Crow Creek and Pine Ridge Reservations in South Dakota. NAHA, with the help of our generous donors, is committed to fighting hunger with emergency food supplies and basic life necessities. NAHA’s trucks leave our office every day with loads of nutritious food that will be delivered to Crow Creek, Lower Brule, Pine Ridge and Rosebud Reservations.

We just received our 6^th consecutive 4-star rating with www.charitynavigator.org.  We are the only Native American organization with this rating for that length of time.  Also, NAHA does not rent, sell or exchange the names of our donors with any other organization and we do not engage in telemarketing.

In South Dakota, diabetes is nearly 4 times more prevalent in the Native American population than in the non-Native American population. With education and the right foods, NAHA hopes to make an impact on the health care issues that face Native American families everyday. About 33% more is spent per capita on healthcare for felons in Federal prisons than on Native Americans. By making healthy foods available, we can help end this cycle.

NAHA works with “Feeding America” to provide meats, canned and frest vegetables and fruits, bread and a variety of boxed foods.  With unemployment rates at an all-time high, Native Americans line up waiting for the much needed food, clothing and other items that our trucks will deliver.  They rely on these deliveries to help make it through the last few days of each month.
