NAHA's employees give free Thanksgiving turkeys to shut-ins and receive wonderful thankful smiles in exchange...

- Thanksgiving 2001 -
Rapid City, South Dakota

With the generous support of donors worldwide, the Native American Heritage Association spread the true meaning of the Thanksgiving season among its most needy elderly and shut-ins from the surrounding community.

By 6 a.m. every morning during the first part of Thanksgiving week, drivers of NAHA's refrigerated delivery trucks  headed down the road to the reservation lands.  With snowdrifts ranging from a foot to 4 feet across the roadways (see news article below), driving at a safe and steady pace became a real challenge.

There were 15,000 pounds of turkey plus thousands and thousands of pounds of cranberry sauce, vegetables, and all the fixings that were delivered to hundreds of Native American men, women and children on the Rosebud and Pine Ridge,  reservations.
